I'm moving to Plainedge from Centereach and would like to go to a downtown area occasionally with my girlfriends for a night out, or go to some shops and dinner with the husband with it not being too far away.

I've been told there's a downtown in Farmingdale on main street but other than that I don't know of any. I'm looking for one with a lot of restaurants, maybe a club. Maybe even a casino?

I will appreciate any help given to me

Huntington probably has the biggest downtown area close to you. Other areas nearby would be Babylon and Massapequa Park if you don't want to stray too far from home.

Casinos? How long have you lived on Long Island???

Wouldn't call them "downtowns." More like "main street drag." Better than nothing. All I have is Hempstead Turnpike.

Isn't there a Casino boat out of Freeport (Nautical Mile)?

Otherwise, the closest Casino is now at Aqueduct Race Track. Pretty easy to get to.
Also Empire Stakes in Yonkers.

Congratulations on knowing that there is a Plainedge; most folks do not know that Plainedge exists as a community (city, village or hamlet).

Plainedge is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the community name as part of their mailing address: places in the Hamlet of Plainedge have a "Massapequa, NY 11758", "Levittown, NY 11756", "Bethpage, NY 11714", "Seaford, NY 11783" and "Farmingdale, NY 11735" mailing address.

from Plainedge, the closest are Farmingdale and Massapequa Park. Farmingdale's downtown is the 4th or 5th biggest on Long Island. Massapequa Park's is very small.

But as Razor will attest.....there's a nice dump of place in Mass Park with great wings. Just don't bring the wife.
