I'm lookin to sign up my 5 year old for some type of Martial Arts Classes in the area. Has anyone compared the various places around ENP/Commack? Any recommendations and ideas of how much classes cost for kids?
There are a few places on Larkfield Rd. and on Jericho Turnpike, I'd prefer if anyone has information on places in that area as it is close to home and I don't want to travel very far. Thanks.
my son goes to the tae kwon do academy on laurel road in east northport, and we're very happy with the facility and the staff... plus, you are not locked into any contact. we pay $100 per month for two one-hour classes a week. if he misses a class, he can go for a make-up session. they also dont charge you for uniforms or belts...
what are you expecting out of the classes for your 5 year old? do you want him/her in tournaments? Sparring? Or just the respect/defense aspect?
My wife is a third degree black belt in American Kempo and teaches classes to kids of all ages every week at the ISA facility in Commack. Dedicated room, intimate classes, fun for kids. She decided to break off from her school as they were moving to the trend where a lot of schools are headed nowadays...mixed martial arts. She got fed up because she liked to learn the forms and defense of the style all while getting a great workout...not how to split wood or kick someone's teeth in.

Not really interested in tournaments and such....he is only 5. Just looking to build his confidence, conditioning, and coordination. He's a little shy and timid so I'm looking for someone patient that can help him have fun!!
