I grew up in New Hampshire. Anything under a foot of snow is a minor dusting.

I would imagine the hardware stores are very busy with people buying shovels. I've had the same shovel for ten years, do people just throw them out in the spring?

The last one I bought was poorly designed and the 2 screws holding the scoop to the handle rusted in one year. I fixed it but they kept loosening up, and the thing was too dull and flimsy anyway, so I tossed it and bought something better. You need a good edge on that thing to dig in when the snow freezes.
