Is it unusual to ask for utlitiy bills, landscaping bills, etc before making a bid to purchase a home? I was going to ask the sellers realtor if they can send me a copy of the last 3 months utility bills but don't know if that appropiate.

I currenly do not have a buyers agent or else I would have asked them

I've never heard of doing that before. I don't think anyone would want to be bothered making copies of actual bills for you but why don't you ask the realtor to ask the sellers? They probably wouldn't mind telling the realtor and then the realtor can just write down the figures and let you know.

I asked for the last 12 mos oil usage prior to purchase. Just an indicator, personal use will vary obviously.

As a realtor, I have had the experience of buyers asking my seller for estimates on utility bills. However, not the actual bills.

I saved my utility bills for about 6 months prior to putting my house on the market, as I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to be curious about and I wanted to be able to show my realtor if needed.

My realtor had me put together a package of bills and other documents illustrating the various costs associated with my home so she'd have all the info on hand if anyone had questions.

I had no problem providing that information. Ask away...

Smart Realtor!

Part of buying a home is knowing what average day-to-day costs are going to be
