A friend of mine signed me up to get texts from some promotion company called A List; it's pretty annoying but last night I got a text about a place called Middle Country Beer Garden. Thought it would be cool if a beer garden opened up here on the Island - I don't know of any and it's advertising as the first one - and the closest I know of are in Astoria.
Apparently the grand opening is this weekend, and Jaleel White, the actor who played Steve Urkel on Family Matters, is the special guest on Saturday night. I'm not sure if he sings now or if he's just going to be there and you can just bask in his presence or whatever.
Anyone heard or know anything about the place? I checked out the website but I didn't see any pictures of the actual beer garden. The only photos are what look like those glossy flyers that clubs give out to advertise. I'm getting the impression that it will be more of a club with an outdoor area. I guess time will tell
Hahhaha Jaleel White- he's actually hot in real life- I'm curious if he will be in normal clothes or all 'Urkeled out'... Haha you have to let us know how this is!
I don't even care about the beer garden- just let me know about the Urkster...and get a photo!
Haha, JDawg, I'm not actually going (friend's birthday party that night - open bar ), I just got excited when I heard there would be a beer garden around here and figured I would let everyone know about it. I'm sure they'll post plenty of pictures though, it would be epic if he did the Urkel dance- don't have access to youtube right now otherwise I'd post a vid. Maybe they'll have him dressed as Urkel and then he'll go through the transformation and become Stephan Ur-kell. Yeah I grew up watching the early days of ABC's TGIF.

little known fact: steve urkel had his own show a few years back on channel 9 and it guest starred a massapequa actor, Dave Ruby (david rubenstein, name changed because it sounded too "jewish".)
