For anyone who is a fan of hiking, what is your favorite trail on the island?

You can include asphalt trails if you must, but I am most curious about true nature trails.

some nice stuff off cr51 north of Sunrise Highway (Eastport area), about 2 miles south of Suffolk Community College. There are some pulloffs on both sides of the road.
Another place I like - Hither Hills Woods, north of Rt 27 , just east of the Napeque Strip (approx. 4-5 mi. west of Montauk village). There are several trailheads from the scenic overlook on the north side or Rt. 27, just east of the junction with Old Montauk Hwy. (also about 4-5 miles west of Montauk village). You can leave your car at the overlook. Great for hiking or mountain biking.
Watch out for the hunters (I think from Dec through March or April).
In Nassau County, try the Muttontown Preserve, just south and west of the junction of Rts. 25A and 106 (East Norwich). You have to drive through a residential area to find the entrance, but it's worth it. The place is pretty big and quite beautiful.
Have fun.

You're definately asking the right guy!
The Pine Barrens are the best place for hiking. Brookhaven State Park in Ridge (between 25 & 25A), Manorville Hills north of route 51, the dwarf pines in Westhampton by Sunrise hwy & 31, Connetquot State Park, Hubbard & Sears-Bellows Park in Flanders...and the list goes on.
I am not as much of a fan of the trails further west as they are busier.
