Can you give more info regarding foxes being slated for execution, please? What agency or county are you referring to? Thanks.

Studies have been done in the past linking the decline of red foxes to the spike in Lyme disease. Maybe the reemergence of this little guy will have a beneficial effect on lyme infected deer ticks. We shall see.

Not the foxes the trees but if you kill the trees the foxes will die soon after.

Default Red Fox on my deck. Deer Park, NY 11729 09/21/2013

We live in a town of 10,000. Houses back to back. Not wooded at all. A sump maybe 200 yards away. We were sitting having coffee at around 9:00 am. We have a 3 small dogs and a doggie door which goes out to our deck. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something on the deck. I jumped up and said to my wife, "Is that a Red Fox?", she immediately said close the glass door (which covers the doggie door). I said give me the camera. We were able to snap 3 pictures before it calmly walked away. We are now in fear for our pets. I have seen Red Fox on the Island before, but mainly up on the north shore where it is much more wooded and the houses are further between. After doing research, we found that the Red Fox population on Long Island is starving ever since Super Storm Sandy hit last year and that they are roaming farther to look for food. It was a beautiful creature even though it scared us a bit. I would love to upload a picture if I could.
