But remember that you cannot put down any fertilizer with nitrogen before April 1st ; its a law from NYS DEC

Home depot should have a sign up telling about the law. All the landscapers know about it and the fines are stiff if caught. Between Nov 1st and April 1st, it is against the law to put down anything with nitrogen in Suffolk Co ; maybe in Nassau but I dont know.

They can buy it, but just cannot put it down.

I think its the same in Nassau as well.

Do you really think the landscaper crews care about waiting till April 1st to apply it? I think not. My co-worker has his put down on Tuesday.

No they don't. Probably couldn't read the rules if they wanted to since they're in English.

In my neck of the woods there is nothing pre. I guess we blew through that in Feb. I have weeds to the extent that I am considering a "if you can't beat 'em join 'em school of thought and adding grass to choke out the weeds." I have weeds in my flower beds it is beyond out of control.
