2.5 years ago we moved from Brooklyn to long island for a more family friendly environment... In order to stay in that budget ... 2.5 years ago... We moved out to Suffolk county and not western Suffolk . Today our 1 bedroom is up to 1400$ ... We do not live in a great school district either .
If you want good family environment and 2 bedroom apartment I really doubt Nassau has anything to offer you...
Thats going to be pushing it for Long Island unless you move way out east.. This is assuming you want a legal apartment....
plus if you both have to commute via LIRR to the city, that's over $600/month alone.
