Don't. One of our neighbors has zoysia. From September/October to May it's the worst looking lawn on the block, looks like stubbly brown straw.

I have it. I like the fact that you only need an inch of water a week and if you get two inched in one week you can skip watering the following week. It is thcik which is nice.

I do not like that it turns to straw in the winter. It REALLY needs to be thatched in the off season. My brother's neighbor burns his and it still comes up. Easier than thatching I guess.

If BigBlue is like me and lives in Country Village he has Zoysa. I also love, the stuff is bulletproof. I almost never water my lawn and I've never had a problem, in my opinion it's not spreading fast enough for me.

You bet. Best part I like is I have no trees on my front lawn and I haven't fertilized, thatched or even raked my front lawn in years since all our neighbors maple tree leaves blow right off. I only need to tend the flower beds. Front sprinklers run every third day for 20 minute cycles. Lawn looks like Augusta Country Club May-Sept. I don't worry about "straw" being tracked in as we use the sidewalk.

I'm totally with you on this one!
I have it over most of my property and love it. I wish it would spread through out the rest. You don't have to mow, water or fertilize it as much. There's never weeds. It's thick and comfortable to walk on. It's hardy for the dogs to play without digging up the grass.
I was wondering if they sell Zoysia sod anywhere?

I don't know what town you live in but Stables on 231 sells the plugs. It's not sold as sod as far as I know anywhere they sell plugs that you plant into your yard and it spreads like wild fire from there. I would try any of the larger garden places or just order it online.

Probably - it will turn green once the weather gets warm.

I agree.

Do not do Zoysia. It's a nightmare, looks like crap, and you could mess up your neighbors' lawns if it spreads. Water's cheap on LI. Put down a good grass like Kentucky Blue.
