Hi! I am new to this forum. I am looking for a place to volunteer on Christmas day. Somewhere along the Nassua / Suffolk line would be preferable. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi and welcome!!!
I tried last year without success to find a place to volunteeer on Christmas Day, apparently there really are no services provided on Christmas day.
If you do find something, please post it here as I would love to participate!

I am sure you can find something in New York City. Here's one:

Donate/ Volunteer for Christmas Day Brunch in New York City at Postal code 10036, United States | Tickets & Event Info - Eventful

Maybe this website will help- you can sort by city.
Charities guide and news find a charity to donate or volunteer for child elderly homeless organizations and more.

LI might not have anything but I am sure the city has a tons of things...that is, if you don't mind traveling...but volunteering to make a difference is worth any amount of travel in my book.

Anyway, hope this helps.

You might want to get in touch with local churches/houses of worship. Many serve meals on holidays and can always use an extra hand!

Thanks everyone for the responses and welcome!

JDawg - I should have been a little more specific about what I am looking for. I thought about the city, but I would prefer to do something in my own community and while I am sure there must be some sort of program on LI, I can't seem to find one. I think the city programs have more advertising/responses and I would prefer to find something that I could continue with throughout the year, which would mean local or near-to-local.

Elke - I would also prefer to do something that does not have a religious attachment to it. Some kind of not-for-profit organization would be ideal, but would consider something church based at this point sint I haven't found what I want. Do you know of any programs?

Kelly - If I found something I will post it for you.

I have an idea for something ongoing, but can't call before Monday - will keep you posted! Before I make the call, it would help to know how much time you have/want to give on a regular basis.

If I did weeknights, it would prob be a min of 1 day / 2 hrs a week after 5:30. On weekends, I would be more flexible.
