4 yr grad rates may not be reliable in that several school districts require an additional year of math which takes some 5 years to complete. may be conflating drop-out rates with 4 yr grad rates
4-yr grad rates are very close to 5-yr. Maybe 1-5% difference max. It won't change the list much, if at all. The drop out rates being higher could also be schools sending off poor performing kids to other schools? Not sure.

lol, good one! Congrats to not-so-little Midlo. A good pass rate as well.
Although like I said, the only thing the higher score really says is Midlo had a higher AP participation rate. Still a good accomplishment though.
Fairfax County also seems to have a lot of top schools on the list, as well as Henrico (particulary Deep Run, which I've heard someone mention before). Are state proficient exams as stringent in VA as in NY?
Do you have a link to the cost per student of VA schools?
PS- I'd still take Pequa by a mile.
Hey Peq,
According to this link,Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed Chesterfield County spending per student is 5,200 not bad. You have to remember it's a county wide system not individual and separate school district like in N.Y.
In your town the spending is 14,200 per student Massapequa School District .....so it's almost 1/3 not half
You know why i love LI. So many people think if you send your kids to the best school district your job is done. they will become CEO's of the world. It's ok people you don't have to do anything let the school do their job. I know we all want to give them a chance but it's been noted here over and over the numbers don't reflect every student in the school as a whole and it does not give you a total picture of who these students are and what they become once the enter collage.
Oh Columbia by way of Brooklyn. I also believe one of Harvard's recent valid Victorian grew up in a African refugee camp.
