Speed is always a factor in the severity of an accident. Just get an excess speed ticket and see what your insurance company thinks of you...and that's aside from the 6 points added to your license. Speed increases the potential for a deadly accident.
To blame simply hitting the concrete divider as the cause, is to ignore that speeding caused the tragedy.
Excellent, let the insurance lobby legislate now. Good luck getting insured for ANYTHING with that plan!
There is no evidence that speeding caused the tragedy. You MADE THAT UP!!! The professionals and the article claim she was going with THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. Hitting a median divider CAUSED the tragedy. She was going too fast FOR HER driving capabilities. That is a matter of poor skill, not inherent road safety.
Spin it how you like. Speeding is baaaadddd. We get it. 55mph is an irrational illusion of safety, but whatever. Who needs logic when you have an agenda that just can't be budged by logic or fact.
The horrific nature of the accident was due to excess speed. Stop putting spin on it to support your view that speeding is ok as long as you are going with the flow of traffic.
so it's unsafe to drive in a 65 mph zone? There are plenty of places outside of the LIE where the speed limit is more reasonable, and is COMPLETELY safe to drive.
Dude, let it go. 55 isn't some magic number where everyone lives in perfect harmony.
What about where speed limits are 65? Is 55 unsafe then???
I wasn't even going to bring up where it's legally 70+ in some areas, but I thought 65 was enough since that is found in places as close as Jersey, NY and Connecticut.
LOL... this is a riot.... the real question is how will gpsma feel if he cannot go faster than 40mph because of even more safer drivers on the road in front of him in a 55mph zone ?
Wait, so the concern isn't about nimrods that get behind the wheel while they're drunk or under the influence? It's about whether they were driving 30 or 55? What difference does it make what speed they were going? I witnessed an accident and followed the guy who was turning onto streets into the on-coming traffic lanes. It turned out he hit 3 other cars that night and drove off. He wasn't speeding but caused quite a bit of damage to 3 cars and could have seriously injured or killed pedestrians who weren't expecting a car to come the wrong way.
