The Pridwin on Shelter Island serves "Pridwin caught" fish when available. The boat/owners goes out regularly during the season. I mean, it doesn't get more local/fresher than that!

They also have a seafood cookout buffet on Wed nights which is dynamite.

WOW!! Have not been to London Lennies since 98. Moved to Fl in 99. Have not been since moved back here. Used to go there all the time as it was the only place I knew of that had the Stone Crabs from Florida. Will see if they still have the authentic Florida stone crabs....not the Jonah crabs that most places pass off for the real ones!

Also have only gone here 1x..actually friend bought over take-out from them. Try New Wave seafood on Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh. Just north of train station and Sunrise Hwy. Got the twin lobster rolls. Not bad at $18 as they do give you 2. Plus fries, and slaw.

Happy eating!!

Is London Lennies a seafood restaurant or a mixed cuisine? Are there any places on Long Island where you can just walk up the the shoreline, and pick up clams, or oysters, and mussels and just eat them raw right there?

Seafood for the most part. They do have a few landlubber choices.

I wish we did. Surprised being as "Island" there are no places where they are right on the beach like that. All I can think of that would be close enough is Freeport. Would be nice to get platter of crab and just sit in the sand and dig in!

Wow there's a blast from the past... Excellent baked clams and fried calamari but the only problem they closed down like 15 years ago.

If you want decent fresh seafood, go to a place that is around the corner..bigalow's. A very small historic old fashion joint. The place hasn't changed much in 73 years.. old man Russ was a good man.
