I do my own lawn but if I had a landscaper who came to my house in the rain I would ask him to leave and come back when it's dry out.
After they left my neighbors house this morning there were ruts through out their entire wet lawn from the big heavy wheels. The grass is cut unevenly due to it being wet and the clippings cling to the driveway and can't be blown off completely. In other words they do a complete Moderator cut: language removed on the lawn when it rains, it never comes out good. Why do they think it's ok with the customers? I see it all the time.
I know they have to make money but why does the customer have to loose out?

The bad ones do it. Ours never cut in the rain ; it just dosnt make sense. They try to get away with it if the homeowner isnt home.
I know they get backed up with the weather, but as someone who had a weather related business for years, its just not worth trying to do it only to have to come back and redo it.
Some of the commercial mowers can mow wet grass without any problem, where the consumer lawn mowers, with pressed steel blades, should not be used on wet grass.
Landscape services that mow in the rain probably shouldn't, but they have a weekly schedule and may be pressed for time.
My landscapers never come when the grass is wet. Some of my neighbors ( different landscapers) do have it cut in the rain. Guess it depends on the company
it's funny a landscaper just pulled up 3 houses down. The worst storm since the hurricane just passed through here literally 5 mins ago... there was a minute of hail too. Now they are starting to mow. Unbelievable.
EDIT>> haha the sun is out now.
I know a landscaper personally and they're on a strict schedule... I don't blame them for not wanting to deviate because when they are behind they have to use Saturdays and Sundays to mow and that's not what clients want. But I have seen them mowing while it is pouring out... kinda ridiculous.

I would think clients would want a Saturday mow, so they can enjoy a fresh cut lawn for the weekend...
If it's not raining too hard, it shouldn't be a problem, especially with sharp blades. When I did lawn maintenance and lawns were very wet but had to get done, we would use the blowers to knock the water off the grass blades first and then mow. if it wasn't raining hard at the time, it would work fine.
Even if they came Saturday morning before company comes, who wants to wake up to the sound of lawn equipment on a Saturday morning?
How long are they there for? 10-15 minutes...
The sound of lawn mowers is typical for a Saturday morning in the suburbs as it has been for 50 plus years!
I don't care if they cut it in the snow as long as I don't have to do it. As for the fresh cut for company over worry....no problem-I don't invite people over.
