I received an offer for $3.59 per gallon fixed. That seems pretty good considering other companies are offering $3.80 - $3.90. However, after following codfuel.com it seems like prices are finally starting to come down, albeit slowly. Would you lock in at $3.59 (offer expires on Sunday, of course) or do you think prices will continue to fall? Has anyone else received a better price than $3.59?
I hope posting this link doesn't constitute advertising. I use these guys. Their prices are usually better than anyone's. Whether you use them or not, these prices are a good indicator...
3.59 may seem good for the winter but being stuck with it for a year concerns me. I filled up in July for 3.00/gallon.
I've never rolled the dice COD, but I'm tempted to do it this winter for whatever reason. I just worry about the boiler failing and not having a service contract.
Wow, it looks like prices shot up again today - 200 gallons was around $3.60 on codfuel across the board when I originally posted this, but now the prices are up at $3.80.
Called a few oil companies yesterday - got prices of 4.15 from Petro, 3.70 from Slomins, 3.99 from Perillo - without maintenance contracts of approx 150. with tax.
Petro calls back today to offer 3.839 with a free maintenance contract.
I typically use about 700 gallons per year and am hoping that this season the insulation projects I have done will pay off.
I always COD for over 200 gallons. A few neighbors on my block are looking into getting gas brought onto the block. I'll convert in a heartbeat.
