I saw a quick news article that said Nassau County Legistator Peter Schmitt died from a heart attack after being rushed from Mangano's office.
Now I dont see that blurb but I'm reading on News12 that he was rushed to the hospital with condition unknown.

Anyone hear anything else?

The blurb came back up. Think he died.

He was a good Republican. We need more like him in Nassau County. RIP Pete.

RIP to Peter Schmitt. He was a good man who fought for the taxpayers and common people of Nassau County. He put the people ahead of public sector unions and special interest groups - a rare breed in Long Island politics.

Wow. He looked like a walking heart attack but still sad.

RIP Peter Schmitt. He was a public servant who actually served his public.

I must say regardless of which side of the fence you are on politically, it is nice to see that (at least thus far) the comments have been respectful and civil. I admire and respect people who are willing to fight for what they believe in on both sides.

with all due respect , why is it necessary to have NCPD staff present during visiting hours at the wake ? (see today's Newsday). With the county a step away from bankruptcy, this seems unreasonable. Hopefully there was no added cost to the Nassau County taxpayers.
RIP to a politician that actually stood his ground.
