Was the tree there when you bought your house? It takes a long time for a tree to grow that tall.

5 stories is 60 or so feet. I just had one taken down for $750.

if 6 stories is 150ft, that's 25ft per story. Those are some mighty high ceilings.

from the pics: looks more like 60ft based on the roof line of that house being about 20ft.

you'd be correct.

you also don't remove healthy trees based on 'what if' scenarios. trees would be being uprooted across the world.

perhaps your neighbor should also reinforce his chimney and have LIPA reroute the electric wires coming to that side of the house just in case.

the owner let the house go and does little to no maintainence on the property, like most landlords. I just spoke to my insurance broker and out of the 40 years he's been in business, he has never heard of "tree insurance" on home owners insurance.

That's a nice tree. So what is the point here? The tree is not as big as you thought it was but you are afraid it will fall on your house?

I think you should not worry. Maybe you worry too much about things. IT may never happen. If you worry, you wont fall asleep. Think its better to be sleeping if it ever falls. You wont know what happened. You just wont wake up. If you are awake, you might hear it and be frightened before it crashes onto your bed.
