I must be going nuts, I thought I'd posted this before. Anyhow, where can I get a good cassata cake in the areas surrounding Floral Park (New Hyde Park, Elmont, Malverne, Lynbrook, Valley Stream, etc.)? I don't want to have to go to Howard Beach if I get get a good one out here. Thanks!

Sapienza is very good. You could also try Malverne Pastry Shop.

Like the others said-Sapienza in Elmont. There are a bunch of other bakeries in Franklin Square and I love them all but for cakes, Sapienza's is your best bet. You might want to call ahead and see if they have any though. I've noticed lately it's not easy finding cassata.

Drive a bit west into NYC and find a good bakery that uses NYC water. That makes the difference.

IL CORSO PASTRY SHOP in Valleystream. Not only is his decorating beautiful but the
taste is really authentic Italian. Pastry chef is from Itay.
