Does anyone know when the LIRR tunnels will be reopened and full service restored?

I heard today, two tunnels still flooded... don't worry, though, the LIRR has their best people thinking about this one.

I believe the LIRR has retained the services of LIPA to remediate the tunnel flooding. So things are looking really good for us.

They're Amtrak-owned tunnels. Pumping them out is slow-going since if they do it rapidly, the tunnels will collapse from the pressure surrounding the tubes. They have to pump, let the pressure equalize, pump again, repeat.

Also, incompetence.

They're supposed to be replaced by 2035 , 4 New Tunnels to replace the 4 current tunnels....2 New Tunnels into Manhattan from Jersey by 2025.... All of these tunnels and the road tunnels lack the New Technology used overseas which would have prevented flooding and would allow for safe evacuation in an event of a fire.....the New Tunnels will solve this....

That's incompetence, with a capital 'I'.

Between the NY gas shortage, LIRR and LIPA, and Gov. Cuomo's big mouth, the word of the day is, yes you guessed it, incompetence.
