The jobs are the sad part.

Irony is everyone is pining away for those snack cakes...but no one BUYS them! It's more of a good timey nostalia feeling. That doesn't play well in the battle for shelf space in the 100 calorie per slice/snack wars we're having now.

I'm overhearing work conversations and on FB and it's always..."ooooo, I LOVE those....BUT I HAVEN'T HAD THEM IN YEARS!" Not a great consumer product business model. "I love it, I just don't buy it."

Everyone hears Hostess and thinks Twinkies. They are forgetting the bread side of the hostess, which use to be Interstate Bakeries, fka Continental bakeries, - i.e. Wonder Bread.

I haven't eaten wonder bread in 20 years either. I sneak a cupcake or twinkie every now and then.

Do you eat Beefsteak Rye? Comes from hostess
Nature's pride? Comes from hostess

Store brands? many come from hostess.

Arnold for me.

Either way, someone will take up the slack in the market, you won't have bread shortages for long if at all.

So many bread brands have cut into Interstates market share. That has gone on for years. The Targets and Walmarts have stolen all that grocery market share and bake their own.

My kid loves Wonder bread for the bright packaging. Can't tell the difference between a Wonder slice or a Target branded slice though.

I would like to see the guys who bought Pabst buy up Hostess and market it right to the hipsters. Make that sugary crap cool again!

target and walmart are not baking their own bread. They just contract it out to someone to bake it for them, like Hostess.

Just like not everything that says "Kirkland" on it came from a Costco factory.

You must think Sears builds everything that says Kenmore on it.

Fantastic! BRAVO Hostess!

Now - if we could only do the same thing with the public-sector union parasites.

Buy out the supply everywhere you see them - those things can survive a nuclear winter.

Funny thing is the plant that sent them over the edge is here in NC....but you can't find plain old Wonder bread down here for anything.
