This should be interesting as the run for bread will start now. Since hostess is closing down that takes out significant portion of the bread market with it.
No more Wonder Bread, beefsteak, JJ Nissen, etc until the brands are sold.
They also make store branded bread. Anyone know if our local stores used Hostess ?
Really? I've been down a bread aisle. No shortage of choices, that's for sure. Could be why they went out of business. Outdated model. Healthy stuff taking up shelf space, pushing aside the old school sweets. Adapt or die in the marketplace. Hostess didn't. Damn, I'll miss those donettes though!

Well Hostess makes Wonder bread, JJ Nissen, Beefsteak and a lot of "healthy" bread brands too. What is in the pipeline will be sold, but after that its anyone's guess
Hostess told workers don't strike as they cannot afford the down time. Union said strike. Now 18,000 people will be standing in the Obama breadline. Another union job well done.
Hostess is not going to dissapear, they are grying to declare bankruptcy, they will be bought out by someone who'll fire all the union workers, and you'll still get your twinkies. Chill.
Hostess has been teetering on the brink for years. The union has had them hamstrung and now it's just easier to liquidate and sell-off assets. I think this will be a familiar theme during Obama 2, given the prez's affinity for labor.

They were already in bankruptcy since Jan 2012. The bakers union went on strike last week. hostess said you have to come back to work or we are liquidating. Well they are liquidating. No more production effective immediately.
I'm not even concerned about the loss of Twinkies and snacks.
The bread side of Hostess produces a lot of bread brands, more than just Wonder and we dont know how many store brands they produced either.
