^yeah they take bball seriously in RVC. The rec center here doesn't have one but I coach St. Boniface and the coaches are now going to try and put a game together.

Many of the high schools have adult only (non-school age) pick up games for area residents one night a week, contact your HS continuing ed. Usually fairly cheap around $20 for the season, not a league but something for the winter and usually starts this month.

Hicksville Athletic Center has open basketball (usually 4 separate half court games, 2 half 1 full if it's not too crowded) MonWedFri 9pm-11pm, TueThuSatSun 7am-9am. Really competitive but not very organized and really crowded at night.

You could try the park on Bellerose Ave in East Northport. I haven't played in years but when I did there were nightly pick up games until the lights went out at 11.

I'm 35 and a relatively weak player, but in very good shape (former military). I really only took intro to basketball in grad school 2 years ago and that's it, aside from pickup. I tried LIHoops a few years ago but was way way too inexperienced for them, those guys are dead serious, and mostly teenagers. I thought about trying the Huntington YMCA's pickup league. Anyone have any interest or info on playing some games on the island? I have a lot of availability and I am a fun person and a good sport, willing to learn.
