They are buiding a low income housing development on the corner of Pulaski Rd and Elwood Rd, right across the street from Pulaski Elementary School and next to Northport High School. The residents are worried that it will be the beginning of the makings of Huntington Station.
I love being within hop, skip and a jump of great tunes.
Nothing beats being ocean front for some Buffet or Yankee Stadium for some Roger Waters. Not to mention all the acts in the city...the garden, Roseland, Nikkon, Terminal 5, RCMH, BB Kings. Etc.
You need to get out more 'Goose.
I can't speak for him, but I would guess his confusion came from the fact that all of the places you have named, except Jones Beach, are in the city. Your post seemed to imply that you meant a local, Long Island music scene.

I'm quite certain NONE of those you mentioned are on Long Island. You can see every one of those acts (except Waters) in 15 minute commute for half the price in Austin, Boston or Seattle (or Brooklyn for that matter). I would rather be waterboarded and tazered to the nut sack than sit through a Jimmy Buffet concert.
Oh yeah. We don't have any pro teams either after 2015. Let's keep it to Long Island, shall we? I believe the post is 101 reasons to live on LONG ISLAND. Not Manhattan or NYC. LIer's... Always playing the "proximity to NYC" card when called on the lack of culture, crap salaries, etc. How convenient.
What about the Coliseum, The Paramount, Westbury Music Theater?
Plenny of good tunes on LI.
Just have to leave your house once in a while.

Okay, dude. I lived in some of the best live music cities in the world. Long Island is NOT one of them, with a capital NOT. The Paramount is trying and failing (very nice room) but the rest of those book the lamest dinosaur acts this side of Branson, MO. Forget it. Music is subjective. We won't cross musical paths, that I can guarantee.
"goose, just have to leave the house once in a while." You've used that joke 3 times today. C'mon. You can do better than that.
Sorry that they don't bring Kenny Rogers out here for ya.

Can anyone list great things about Long Island without mentioning Manhattan?
you mean besides the Rocky Point Cheerleading Squad?
Is this even a serious question? This is makes the usual mindless trolling seem pretty tame by comparison. Some of you ex-pats must have had miserable lives here before leaving.

Actually it's not a troll. I loved all that I could do on Long Island without having to go into Manhatten. Clubs, outdoors, eateries, etc. Guess those days of a vibrant Island are gone and all that's left are memories and commuting into The City for fun.
At least you still have your bitterness to keep you warm.
