I think Montauk also, they bus the kids to East Hampton
Thanks for replying. I had hoped that others would do the same and, in that way, we could collaboratively generate a list of the school districts that do not have a high school. NEWSDAY indicates that there are some two dozen such districts, but fails to list them.

Remsenberg-Speonk UFSD goes to Westhampton Beach HS (or they have choice, I don't recall as I looked at houses out there 13 years ago.)
Elmont no longer has their own high school I believe.
Elmont, along with Franklin Square, Floral Park-Bellerose and New Hyde Park-Garden City Park, is part of Central High School District 2.
There are only four central high school districts in New York state: three are in Nassau County and one is in Suffolk County. These districts provide secondary education to students in two or more common or union free districts.
The Island Park debate is very interesting...I have a friend who works in one of the Island Park elementary schools, who has spoken to a few parents about the issue. He claims something that the Newsday article mentioned above doesn't address: that many people within Island Park view West Hempstead as a more 'upscale' district than LBSD, that would be able to better spend whatever resources it has on its students. I'm not sure about this claim from the West Hempstead end: I know practically nothing about the school district. However, I do know that the Long Beach school district has, in the past decade, made a tremendous effort to improve itself (with the rest of the town, of course...I know that when I was in high school, the district had at least one Westinghouse semifinalist every year, including yours truly, <<ahem>>). However, I can also see the overcrowding aspect: I'm not entirely sure that the desire of the school district to gain more funding will overcome the increase in class size and the already-limited number of qualified teachers within the district.
As a resident of LB, I think it'll be very interesting to see what kinds of plans Long Beach to integrate these students...it could either be a stunning success or a spectacular failure for all students involved.
PS: I had to laugh when the article quoted the parent about his kids "riding their bikes to school"...if I didn't have to in order to get to the Island Park train station, I wouldn't even walk over it.
Is there a Lake Grove school district? Or, am I mistaken that the Village of Lake Grove is in the Sachem Central School District, and that the Sachem Central School District has two high schools: Sachem High School East and Sachem High School North?
