How do I get to it? I'm wondering if it's somehow hidden?

I find the SA boxes to be much more reliable and faster to respond to input from the remote. The Samsung boxes have flashier menus, but for me they never seem to work well. I will never give up my SA box and actually got into a fight with Cablevision b/c they refused to trade out my Samsung for a SA. The only negative to the SA box is that it can be loud at night (even while the box/tv is off) so it may not be best for a bedroom setup.

When I do that, the Fixed / Upconvert / Passthrough is not one of the options on the Samsung box. It is an option on the Scientific Atlanta box. I have a feeling that I am missing something here. Is there maybe more than one model of Samsung box, and I maybe have a different one than you?

Again, I have a feeling I have a different box than you have. My Samsung box does not have a flashier menu than the Scientific Atanta box. It has the same menu (but with fewer options), and in a stretched aspect ratio that actually makes the menu uglier than the Scientific Atlanta box.

I hear no sound of any kind from either box. That makes me further think that I have different boxes than you.

So now I am really confused.

The only SA box that is noisy is a DVR one. Those things click and spin 24/7. I really think you are overthinking this whole box thing. Whichever seems to work well for you, stick with that one. Neither is amazing.

When we got our new T.V. in December and they gave us the Samsung box. It takes some getting used to.
I don't notice anything different as far as the picture on the T.V. but the changing of the channels is a rough one. There are days it just seems to sit on a channel as you are trying to scroll up or down. Then I would have to manually input the channel I want in order to get it moving. Maybe it's a bad box, but like I said, it has it days both good and bad. I want my SA back!!

It already has the new style, I just don't get why it's any flashier than the identical "new style" controls on the SA box.

Honestly, this thread is making me more and more confused, since some people seem to prefer the SA box and others seem to prefer the Samsung box.
