Have a job offer(better opportunity & $$) but it is in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Hours could be 7-4 or 8-5. From my research it seems like a terrible location to get to and from. My best bet seems to be subway to Atlantic Terminal then LIRR home. Anyone familiar with another possible quicker way home?. I am in Deer Park so commute looks to be 1:45(door to door) + no matter what

Thanks.

Definately not by car. You can't find a much worse place to commute to by car.

Default Advice

No fast routes from Long Island to anywhere in rush hour, learned that the hard way myself.

We just moved out to East Meadow, LI and we work in DUMBO, Bklyn near the State Courts/Depts. The best route that we have found would be:

- (Mornings) Meadowbrook to Northern State to Grand Central to BQE. Our commute is about 1:15 each way
- (Afternoon) Belt to Southern State or JackieRobinson Pkwy to Grand Central to Northern State to Meadowbrook

Works better for us to commute by car because we both work in DUMBO, LIRR fare is ridiculous expensive. If only one us worked in Bklyn, then the LIRR cost wouldn't hurt as much!

Hope this helps!

Driving would be a nightmare, especially if it ever snows or rains because then all of a sudden people can't drive when a little bit of rain or snow hits they all become 80 year olds at the wheel.

Take the train.....you can relax, work on your laptop, listen to your headphones, and dont have to deal with rush hour traffic!

Atlantic terminal to Jamaica, then Jamaica to Deer Park.

Relocating to Queens might be a much better option.

Its a horrible commute. I did it for close to 20yrs, leave early listen to traffic reports, and always remember to add 30 minutes to your trip east bound in the summer time. The NYC to the Hamptons crowd destroys the highways.
