It's quite hilarious that I have more credibility than you, don'tcha think?

You are correct. I could not afford to hire you. I can't afford failure.

You are earning your stripes today.

Believe me, my family has lived in Valley Stream for 3 generations. There's a reason I didn't look there when considering areas to buy. It's not like it used to be.

I grew up in Valley Stream too (late 60's and 70's) and I don't think it is the same either.

Can I ask where exactly are these bad areas in Valley Stream. I've been living here for a few months and quite like the neighborhood. Valley Stream is an extremely large town and perhaps I dont know the area as well as some folks here. And is there any way you can be more specific as to what has changed? I'm not doubting your opinions, cause of course, those are your opinions. Just want to be more aware of my new town so I am more informed. Thanks.

Honestly, what areas from the 60s and 70s ARE the same still?

When people refer to "bad areas," they are typically referring to the northern part of Valley Stream toward Elmont, or the west end approaching Queens. The definition of a bad area ranges from person to person, of course.

You are correct -- Valley Stream is a large area where one section has very little to do with the other. If you live in the Gibson area in south Valley Stream, you're probably much more familiar with Lynbrook, RVC and the Five Towns than you are with North Valley Stream due to proximity.

Neither is Merrick. LOL! Just look at who your financial betters are that moved into one of the primo areas. A convicted rapist and attempted murderer who was killed by his convicted murderer wife. Oooh and they both had plenty of melatonin too! Have mercy on MERRICK! The "dark hordes" of Queens are invading! And they're the criminal kind!

The truth is, NO area is in a time capsule, exactly the same as it was way back then. And these days anyone can move anywhere on LI if they have the money. It is better to mind your own backyard than denigrate someone else's just because "you say so" on an anonymous messageboard.
