The units seem to go for around $1,000, but installation needs to be done by an HVAC technician and an electrician. Anyone know what this would run me?

Yep. Home Depot currently has an 18,000 BTU for $1,079. It's all we'd need - it's for a 750 sq ft space.

Ahh ok.

Shoot me a PM if you want a contact for installation.

FYI Trane company has a 5 zone system out now for about $2400. I see alot of these coming to houses in the near future.

How does Trane compare to other manufacturers like Mitsubishi? We are looking to have a system installed too. How much roughly to install the system? Also, how does it get installed in a solid brick home? I know for woodframe homes, they run the tubing inside the walls. Thanks.

Is that better than installing a regular 18,000 BTU unit in the wall? I remember we had a high-capacity unit installed in the lower part of the wall in the dining room of our first house. Because the house was small enough, it cooled the entire first floor.

I really don't know many details, but I imagine it's probably much quieter and more efficient than a regular A/C unit. It may also do more to circulate the air and cool more space, but that's just an assumption on my part.

It's definitely much more quiet.
What I really like is that the wall opening is so much smaller - only 3"!!
Saving up for one or two once my house is fixed up from Sandy's destruction.

Is it me or are these systems not very well advertised?

Could be. The only reason I know of them is because I know someone who has one.
