I relocate year ago to Long Island with my wife. I am working in Melville and my wife is working in one of the hospitals in the city
Anyway we are currently living @ 1BR apartment in Avalon apartments in Melville - we really like the place BUT they want to increase our rent by 400$ to ~2400$ (not including heat/power).
We are looking for something cheaper - any ideas? we are looking for complex building/apartments (1BR) around Melville and close to the train station.
I lived in an Avalon once - tell them you're leaving because you can't afford the new rent, and they may come down on the raise. (I did this, and they actually backed off of the increase entirely, but we were planning to leave for a different part of LI anyway, so we didn't take them up on their offer).
