I'm currently in the process of buying a house in lindenhurst just off of sunrise highway well north of any flood zones. Can anyone recommend a good home owners insurance company. I'm finding that a lot of the major companies won't underwrite on long island right now. I got a quote of $1850 from travelers so far. Has anyone else had luck lately?

I have Travellers. They are a bit expensive but pay out well when you need them.

Send me a DM and I can give you a great broker.

I don't live in Lindenhurst--I live in Franklin Square. I have State Farm and pay almost $900 but my house is small. Assuming you have auto insurance, have you gotten a quote from them to add homeowners (if they offer homeowners).

I hate to break it to you but, you are in the Flood Zone. I have Travelers and I live north of Straight Path. I was told we are in the flood zone. The formula is approximately 5 miles. Just saying. You may want to check that out.

How far are you from the water? Narragansett Bay will write if you are 5 miles or less. Mercury may write you depending on your distance. Adirondack is writing. Ocean Harbor is writing but the are B rated.

Im about 2 miles from water. I actually got a quote of about $1100 from state farm. The agent was in the area and confirmed they had updated maps and they were ok with policies north of Merrick road. So far they seem like my best bet. Almost all the other majors from what I can see wont write in the area.
