The police are nothing but a bunch of uniformed , unionized thugs ! Power without principles and brawn without brains !

Every aspect of this story sickens me !

You can be sure that , if the two passengers of that cab had been killed , we , the public , would be hearing a very different story !

It makes me feel so safe and secure to know that Nassau County is keeping us all safe from those dangerous johns while their police are out shooting innocent people.

NCPD , SCPD , Rice , Spota , et al , keep up the good work.

His godmother is a deputy commissioner at Suffolk County PD, they wouldn't even let her speak to him until after he signed the statement and would not provide him an attorney, so much for connections. They only care about one thing protecting their own.

agreed, but at the time of the event Mention-Lewis was an assistant DA for Nassau County. I am sure this carried some weight.

Right, in the long run it did, but in the short run, the crooked cops had more power than her.

It looks like all that you have to do is call in "officer in danger" and every cop who shows up will immediately side with you as a cop, even if you are off duty, obviously intoxicated, driving, and shooting at unarmed people.

If the cab driver hadn't been connected this story would probably have dissapeared completely.

Whatever happened to that retired cop who used to post here and tell us we didn't know what we were talking about since we're not cops and that we should wear tinfoil hats ? I'd like to hear his idiotic take on this story.

The silence is defeaning. Most likely he's simply trying to get the thread deleted.

This could have all been prevented if the two drunk cops had left their guns at home when they went out drinking.

What kind of idiot goes out to a bar with a handgun?

One with a badge and a chip on his shoulder. Awesome that the cops were driving an Acura and an Infiniti too. Good work if you can get it.

I'm a cop and the whole thing makes me sick.

The vast majority of us got into this line of work for the public good. This incident makes us all look like thugs, criminals, and conspirators.

I'm glad I'm retiring soon.

I'm sure there were guys on the scene that night who were disturbed by the incident, but the pressure to tow the line is apparently more powerful than the pressure to do what's right, which is something that should be addressed in our police academies. Also, the whole "we can police ourselves" attitude from cops is obviously a complete failure that puts the public in jeopardy.
