So last time I was at Long Beach my GF and friends were chilling and drinking on the beach. Come to find out that's not allowed and ticketable. One of the guys pulled me aside and told me he would let it slide if I dumped everything out in front of him. I complied of course but I was a little confused about it.
I know they allow drinking on Jones Beach but I guess not on Long Beach? Is there any area that DOES allow drinking? Any other beaches near Queens allow drinking alcoholic beverages on the beach? Not looking to get drunk, just a couple beers and some sun. Thanks!

Pretty sure being outside anywhere with an open container is illegal.

Any state park (Moses or Jones) or town beach will technically not allow any drinking, but some are more liberal about enforcing it. Gilgo, for example, was a free-for-all in my youth. Not sure if it's still that way.

Jones Beach is a state park. Usually there's no alcohol permitted at state parks. You can bring alcohol provided you have a permit--that's usually if you're having some type of event at the park. I've gone to Jones Beach at night at the bandshell and the cops usually leave everyone alone because there's hundreds of people drinking but if you keep it in a cup they don't usually bother you.

Don't they sell beer at Jones beach? I'd just bring it in a cooler and pour it in a cup if I had to have a beer.

Maybe at the theater. I haven't been there in a few years--can't remember. I don't believe I've ever seen beer sold at the concession stands on the beach though.

I'm pretty sure open containers in public are always illegal (and technically it's an "open container" even if it's a red solo cup or the bottle's wrapped in a bag or whatever).
Beaches that have food service usually sell beer in the food service area, but I don't think you're allowed to take the beer onto the beach.

They sell beer at every "beach Hut (cedar, overlook, gilgo) and at RM. I think its more a glass container issue than an alcohol one, but I could be way off.

All of them if you're smart enough.

I've definitely seen it sold in the concession stand @ Jones. Unless all the 20-somethings are ordering ice cold apple juice or something, lol.
