Hello everyone!
I am going to be moving to the area, working at Long Beach and Oceanside NY. I am interested in finding a place to live, but am not sure as to what areas to look around in terms of safety. I am only going to be there 1 year as of now so am just looking for a simple 1br apartment. Im not from NY so dont really have an idea about any of the areas.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks.

Do you want a pool? Because you'll get a pool at least once or twice a year whether you want it or not.
Just bc you are working in those towns doesnt mean you have to live there. I recommend Rockville Centre... Unless you wont have a car then I recommend Long Beach if you are single in your 20's. Otherwise I suggest Oceanside. A car is highly recommended to enjoy life on LI.
Thanks. I'm not looking at just Long Beach or Oceanside. I see on the map that rockville center isnt too far. But I will have a car so it isnt a problem.
Just more curious about finding out out what areas are worth looking into, such as rockille center. Because I've found some poor reviews of areas such as Hempstead which isnt too far either, so just confused as to what areas are good.
Budget of around $1500/month for a 1br/studio.
Thanks for the other suggestion.
Along with places to look around, if anyone knows of places to avoid, I'd appreciate that info as well.
We could help you out better if you tell us your interests, age bracket, and most important of all how much of a daily commute are you willing to make? Do you want to have access to go to the city frequently? While there are apartment buildings and complexes in the areas that you inquired about, many people also live in apartments in private homes. They can be a little cheaper.
Oceanside is a large area and generally very safe. There is also a Trader Joes! No apartment buildings that I know of. Contact a RE broker there. There are probably a lot of two family homes with rentals. Very nicely kept homes and parking. I always found areas in Long Beach (apartments) to be expensive and hard to park.
