I have a a not politically correct question, what type of people live in apartments and condos that I see scattered throughout Lynbrook. Are they low income mostly minority? If one hasn't enough funds to purchase a house in a district with excellent schools why not purchase a condo or a coop and still utilize all the amenities that school district offers without paying outrageous property taxes. Any thoughts?

They're mostly white, at least the one that I visited near Sunrise Hwy

It sounds like you described housing projects, that sort of thing is extremely rare on Long Island

Those are Coop's and condos. They are usually occupied by white folks. There are no low income buildings in Lynbrook. You won't find poor/low income people in those buildings. A lot of them are very nice and have amenities such as a pool and gym.

Yes people do buy them because they are not interested in buying a house. Some are single people that don't need a house, some don't care for a house because they don't want to deal with responsibilities of owning a house and some are happy with the smaller space. The same thing goes for Rockville Centre. Both are great neighborhoods with very good school districts. Both neighborhoods have a lot of condo's and coops. However, RC does have low income housing.

If I were single and looking for an apartment in Nassau I would definitely be looking in those condo's and coops.

Minorities can be middle class too you know and they can afford houses.

As for bona fide housing projects for the poor minorities, the fabulous Rockville Centre has one on Old Mill Court which houses members of the famous Bloods gang and is known for shootings and drug dealing and even had an FBI raid a couple of years ago. Google it for news stories. HOWEVER, the residents generally stay to themselves over there, so the whiteys on LI usually have amnesia when it comes to this housing project.
