I like the ranch, although not really my taste the home has a uniform style throughout. The other home looks like the builder tried to add elements of every popular style and used to heavy a hand. Just my 2 cents.
I lean toward the ranch. While neither one tickles my fancy, the ranch reno looks like it will age better as it retains its mid-century look outside while having made updates to the interior space. I prefer understated.
The first one is tries too hard and for me, fails. Too much going on the front facade. It will date the exterior. The foyer and abundance of curlicue wrought iron is off-putting to me. While I preferred the dark cabinets in this home, I don't like how both dining areas are right on top of it. The formal space needs some boundaries from the kitchen.

agree and while the ranch is that ultra r contemporary design that is easily changed by your stuff.
I have to laugh at the yellow plastic tablencloth in house #1... that's great staging in that price point.
