Where are best Italian-American communities in Suffolk? (Islip, Babylon: new home, live in)

Are N.Babylon and the surrounding communities iffy as far as safety? Or are they just run-down looking? Run-down is OK as long as there is a strong family community and someone who makes a damn good espresso! My question is really about the Italian factor and notsomuch the apparent poverty of a particular place, but if there's a definite, undeniable red flag looming over Babylon, I'd like to know so I don't waste time looking at homes there.
There is no poverty here in North Babylon or Deer Park. But you will find real Italian-Americans here - very nice down to earth people. The area is far from run down. Don't listen to those other people on this board - they don't live here! Come here for yourself and drive around the area called Sunset City, or the Phelps Lane area or the Poet Section. You will see some of the nicest neighborhoods on LI with very well kept homes.
BTW you can get great fresh raviolis on DP Avenue.

Which, in your opinion, has a better town center? West or East Islip, or Babylon Village?
