For people bought a house which has security system installed, after moving in, you need a monitoring service. Any service provider to recommend?

This has been brought up before. I recently upgraded some hardware and needed new monitoring, went with alarmrelay.net. Price is hard to beat for monitoring.

Most alarm panels need a dealer code to get into programming, so unless you know it you are not going to be able to change monitoring companies.

Which is why I upgraded my hardware. I have my own code now, so that panel is forever mine. Company walked me through the programming over the phone.

I suppose I was just lucky if most are like that... we had an ademco panel and no other details when we moved into my previous house and my alarm guy was able to reprogram it without issue. Give it a try first.
