I want to build a shed in the backyard. I know the code is 144sqft with peak height of 12ft for a detached shed.
My in-laws suggest building the shed off the garage to save space and money, not having to build a fourth wall.
I can't find anything online about if this breaks any codes in the town of brookhaven.

They would be seperate structures, just sharing a wall.

Any ideas?

If they are sharing a wall they are not separate, no?

You can call the town. I believe it has to be X feet away from the house. Not sure if its the same amount as from a property line.

How much can an wall cost? Keep it simple and install a detached shed.

Why are you going to go through that trouble? Anything attached to the house will require a permit. Installing a shed below the allowed size does not.

not sure what town you're in and what the rules are there.

But town of hempstead, all sheds need a permit

Town of Oyster Bay does not require a permit for a shed less than 100 square feet in area. So you can build a 10' x 7' shed and be fine without a permit.

it is a detached garage, so not building onto the house.
brookhaven does not require permits for a detached shed 144sqft and 12ft peak.
