Which is the nice part of huntington to live in ? I believe I heard there is a bad part, rich part and a decent part to live in for schools, family etc.

Also, which is the premier website to use when looking up school district ratings etc for moving to a specific address?

Thanks

Do you mean Huntington Village or the vicinity of Huntington? If the vicinity, somewhere between HV and Northport or HV and Cold Spring Harbor near Rt. 25A. Check Daniel Gale Sotheby's.

I am looking at the towns in Huntington based on Google Earth, etc.

I have Huntington, Huntington Village, Huntington Station, and then South Huntington. These are the areas I was requesting information on.

Tough area to house hunt if you're not familiar with it, to be honest. I grew up there and when we looked in Huntington the RE agent was my friend's mother and she still showed us some houses that I was like "Really?! HERE?!"

You'll have to look around neighborhoods, especially at night and get a feel for what goes on. There are too many areas, too where you can be OK on one street and totally not a quarter mile away.

In general, you're OK north of 25A; you're OK west of Oakwood Road between Jericho and the village, but there are other areas that are fine. In general you want to avoid the area around the train station.

Not sure of your budget and which school district you prefer. If you have specific streets you can DM me and I'll try to help.

Maybe Melville would be the better choice in that case.. Looking for a good neighborhood/school district.

My uncle lived in Huntington Bay in the 1980s and it was very nice. I don't know how expensive it is now.

If you're unfamiliar with the area, Melville might be a better bet. Unless you happen to luck into a great house that's walking distance to Huntington Village, you'll be driving to the Village for restaurants/shopping/etc. regardless of whether you're in Melville or Huntington, so might as well go with Melville, assuming it's within your price point. There really aren't any "bad parts" the way there are in Huntington, and I'm pretty sure all of Melville goes to Half Hollow Hills schools, which are better than the Huntington and S.Huntington districts anyway.

I'm not as familiar with Melville, and it never appealed to me as a place to live, so can't help you there.

Just wondering why Melville never appealed to you as a place to live?

We are moving from Franklin Square (nassau), and looking to go to a town in the $380 - $450k range that is in Suffolk but close enough to Nassau.
