I redid my front lawn with sod from L DeLea & Sons in East Northport. I paid .42 sq ft and I installed it myself.

The Home Depot sod is garbage.

It took me about 8 hours of continuous labor (no breaks at all) to install 1700 sq ft of sod. I saved a ton of money versus paying someone and it came out great.

Hi Curious George, Could you send me the info for the person or company that did your landscape work? I am looking for a reasonable and reliable landscaper. Thank you in advance!

Why are people paying someone to install SOD? If you're physically able it's not a difficult process. The largest issue people face is making sure the area is prepped properly. You can watch a million Youtube videos and get the job done in a day or a few days.

P.S if you're installing SOD at this time of the year make sure you have sprinklers or a good watering system/schedule setup

It's easy on paper and laying the sod is indeed easy, but you need to think about getting however many sqft you need to your house, not to mention digging out and disposing of the old stuff. I only did 300sqft on my own and I don't think I'd do it all again.

People pay gardeners to plant their flowers and maids to clean their house - shouldn't be a surprise for re-doing their grass.
