My neighbor calls me last night and said she saw a fox on my front lawn, when I went out to look it was gone. Has anyone else seen foxes in their area, specifically Suffolk? I have seen deer in my neighborhood, possum and raccoons, but never a fox. I have a friend who lives 15 minutes east of riverhead and he sees foxes all of the time. Curious as to why a fox would be over here mid Suffolk. Maybe they are coming from Hecksher Park?
I live in Nesconset, I have seen many times fox in my back yard and front.
Fox (four legged) are all over south of Montauk Hwy in Islip,East Islip,Oakdale area. Last week when I got off Wolf Hill Rd in Melville early in a.m. on way to work one was crossing street into Farrell Park.
We used to have a fox that lived in our neighborhood. I'm in Mt. Sinai.
Used to see him around for a couple of years. I don't think they're uncommon at all.
Saw them in my backyard from time to time when I lived in Cold Spring Harbor; they put a dent in my chicken population (until I had to find a new home for the remaining chickens).
It was just down the block from the Nature Conservancy location, which might have something to do with it
My husband saw a fox last week in Islip and told my neighbor and they saw one on Ferndale Ave. I know others have seen then on Brook St. We had alot of rabbits in the neighborhood this year now that the fox is around the rabbits are gone.
Saw one not too long ago right around the entrance ramp to the Sunken Meadow at 25A.
