Looking to pick up a new Wrangler. What luck have you had with the local dealers? I know some of them are awful to deal with. Curious who has the best prices and is willing to haggle to make the sale.
I've bought 2 used and 1 new; 2 through dealerships, 1 off a used car lot. New was from Brown's in Patchogue, used from Port Jeff Chrysler Jeep Dodge. The lot I used went out about 2 years ago. I was unhappy with Brown's unresponsiveness and service on a warranty issue, so we've taken the new Jeep to Smith Haven Chrysler Jeep. They handled the service issues far better.
Island Jeep in Lindenhurst was an excellent dealer but lost the franchise when Chrysler tanked in 2008. I bought two jeeps from them.
Last jeep was from Pt Jefferson. I had priced a lease at Browns and drove over to Pt Jefferson...told them I would lease right now if they could beat Browns. Saleswoman thought I was an idiot when she asked me what Browns price was....did she really think I was going to answer?
Anyway, she came back with a great price and I signed on the spot. Service there is also pretty good.
Just be ready to buy..dont be a tire kicker and they will usually give you their best price. They dont want you to leave that showroom if they know you are a serious buyer.
We got my wife's Chrysler from the dealer in Levittown. I wasnt to thrilled with their practices/policies, though the finance girl was very helpful. I wouldnt go back there.
When I bought my Jeep, it was at a now gone dealer on Staten Island. but the process was easy. I used the build your Jeep tool on the Jeep website, with everything I wanted, printed it, and took it with me to the dealer. It was a done deal quickly.

Port Jeff definitely over Brown's. Even on the used Jeep I haggled down to a good price.
If you don't mind a ride on the ferry, CarMax in East Haven, Connecticut was absolutely a pleasure to deal with both times we bought from them. They sell new and used.
What is the draw with Jeeps, anyway? Wranglers in particular seem so impractical. I don't get it.
plain and simple they are loads of fun.
pulling the top ,pulling the doors , there is nothing like it.
they can be customized to any degree you like.
i am 61 and got my first one 2 years ago after decades of bmw's.
what can i say , i really like it . we don't do hard core stuff but fire trails are fun and in the winter i go looking for snow to drive in. a set of blizzaks and these things are fabulous in the snow.
my x3 bmw could never go hrough what my jeep does.
