I am selling my home in Plainview...hopefully it will not take long, but I would like to stay until June so my kids can finish school. Does anyone know of short term rental options? Furnished? I received a quote from Oakwood Corporate housing for $221 a night...which is like $6k a month! Ridiculous...

I need a 2br and I have 2 dogs

They're not furnished, but Avalon does short-term rentals, they take pets, and there's one in Melville (which I think is reasonably near-ish to Plainview). It'll probably be $3-$4K/month depending on the size of the unit/availability, but at least it's less than $6K.

I think Archstone in Westbury has short term rentals.

Wouldn't you have to rent within the school district in order for your kids to stay in that school?

I believe there are exceptions to this if the parents are willing to take responsibility for transporting the kids to/from school, and if the living situation is "temporary," which this clearly would be.

Do they have to pay extra since they are no longer paying for school via property tax?

My inlaws live in the school district and my oldest daughter would stay with them. My other daughter goes to private school.
