Humidity level in the house

Yes the cost of electricity has to be figured in but that's offset to an extent by using a space heater to warm one room which lets you keep the house thermostat lower and save on oil. That may not be a cost effective option if you need to warm much of the home but for one room I think it definitely is a money saver.

Also the tower space heater I mentioned blasts heat for about five minutes and then shuts off for maybe an hour. It warms the room quickly without needing to be on a long time.

If you put a $20 humidifier in your BR - if you feel you need it - it won't make anything too moist, trust me. It gets SO DRY in the winter. I really only try to use them if we are getting a lot of nosebleeds though (one of my kids gets hellacious epic nosebleeds so when he starts with them I know it's time to break out the humidifier).

if u have forced-air heating, as it's a popular choice in NE. get this:

those stand-alone humi. from CVS are not worth the trouble.

OK. I will watch for nosebleeds with my son. So far, he is fine. Of course we are just getting into cold weather.
