Hi, anyone get a Fan in a can installed for their boiler? I have a gas boiler which is enclosed and need more air in the room, so I purchased a fan in a can unit made by field controls, but I'm trying to see if anyone had one installed to understand what the typical cost to install should be. Trying to avoid getting ripped off and every plumber I've called insists on coming to give an estimate at a cost of $125 regardless of whether I decide to do the work or not.

This is a fan to bring in outside air into the boiler room and is mounted in an exterior wall.

A hole is cut into the exterior wall and the fan is installed and connected to an electrical source.

Correct?

If so, get a handyman to install it and get the plumber to wire it to the boiler.

Yes it is and I already have the hole in the wall, just need to get it hooked up to my furnace. I was trying to get an idea of cost as one plumber was charging me $325 to install and I found that to be extremely high considering that they would only be connecting the unit to my furnace and wouldn't have to make a hole in the wall.

I believe Petro wanted $250 to do that installed when I was asking for quotes to do a whole job. If it weren't for code, I wouldn't have even heard about it.

Did you already have a hole in the basement wall to the outside or was the quote including the services required to make the hole and connect the unit to the furnace?
