Anyone else think they'll shut down the LIE for this again? Not sure why they recently started doing that. You're supposed to plow through storms, not shut down highways and stall major parts of LI.

-------------------
Synopsis

A strong cold front approaches the area later today and tonight. Bitterly cold temperatures are expected Tuesday through Friday. Wind chills will reach (-) 5 to (-) 10 degrees Tuesday night. Snow is expected on Tuesday and Tuesday night and may be heavy at times, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. Dry, but cold conditions will continue on Wednesday through Friday.

Timing and Precipitation
Snow will develop Tuesday morning (10 AM – Noon) with the heaviest snow Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Snow will taper off by 8 AM on Wednesday. 1 to 2 inches per hour of snow is possible with the heavier bands. 2-4 inches of snow is expected before the evening on Tuesday. A total of 6-10 inches of snow is expected to fall and accumulate across the city into Wednesday morning. Due to strong winds during the storm, the NYC area may experience blizzard-like conditions with visibility less than 1 mile during the heaviest periods of snow. A Blizzard Watch/Warning is not expected to be issued.

Today: high in the mid 40s with a low around 20 with wind chills around 10.
Tuesday: high in the lower 20s, dropping to the teens in the afternoon with wind chills in the single digits.

Default Milk Bread Eggs!

Gotta get that milk, bread & eggs! You might be stranded in for more than 1-2 days!
Give me a break! I probably have enough food in my house for 2 months.

As far as LIE closure, hey..... If it can save a family members life, why not?

I still have bread and milk from the blizzard that hit last February, so I'm good.

Unless you can shoe, ski, tobogan, tube or sled in the snow, you're right, I too hate snow.

I love the first day of snow and snow in Vermont or at any other ski resort but that's it. After a day of snow I want it to melt away.

I can see sunrise highway from my house and it looks like it's backed up about 6 miles. From my house to the Oakdale/bohemia merge it should take 3-4 minutes without traffic now it will probably take 1/2 hour. The roads are bad. I just got home from work at 4 pm.
