About to sign contract on a house. I am eligible for a grant, which i will be accepted for depending on the bank appraisal. Is there any way i can anticipate what the bank appraisal might come in at? Is there any websites that give any current estimates on BA for exact addresses. This is very nerve racking because if the BA comes in higher than a certain amount then i will not receive this grant.

Thanks, any info will be appreciated.

There is no online site that will tell you exactly what the home will appraise for. Sites such as Zillow, etc...are often off by 10's of thousands in either direction . For example Zillow says my home is worth 405K but I know it would appraise for 370-380.

I agree. You can't go by Zillow. Very off numbers.
There is no real way to tell what an appraisal will come in at. The appraiser has to use actual data of recent closed sales to support his/her figure.

Although some appraisers have a reputation of being more accurate than others. Perhaps your realtor would know.

Have you spoken to your agent or lawyer if you already have an attorney?

Short of bribing them, no.

in my experience, our buyer agent pulled comps and made it more evident for the appraiser. Twice it was no problem.

Can you explain how one gets a grant to buy a home? Is this a government grant? Do you have to purchase in a certain area?

I found some information on government grants to purchase a home FHA Down Payment Grants | Ameridream, Nehemiah, and more.. Another sweet deal I've been screwed out of by working like a dog my whole life to pay my own bills and buy my own stuff. When will I learn I could have gotten a grant, food stamps, heating assistance, free medical care and much much more, my kids could have gotten free milk and breakfast and lunch at school. Free after school care. Why did I make the mistake of choosing to work? You know what would be a good idea? give people loans for more than their homes are actually worth and at a low introductory rate so they can initially make their monthly payments, but that increased to a real finance rate after a couple of years. As long as the lenders make their commisions so what? You'd have to be an idiot to agree to a loan like that in the first place, right? God bless America. Now lets go attack Russia, there's probably some Ukrainian losers out there that need a helping hand.

We had our appraisal done twice. Our buyers agent tried to show comps the first time to the appraiser, but he wouldn't look at them and our house was appraised for 10k under what we were buying it for. We had another appraiser come in and he appraised it for 10k over what we were buying it for.

Really depends on who you get, but having your buyers agent bring comps could help.
