I live in Syosset but get water from Plainview. I got a letter in the mail about an Annual test of the backflow prevention device.
I just moved in the area and have never had this done.
Wanted to find out before hand about what to expect. How much it will cost ?
Does anyone have any known reputable testers who do this for a reasonable price.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards.
I'm required to do an Annual test for the backflow device in my town also. It's a free inspection from the water district. Takes less than 10 mins. Does the letter say to call Plainview water to make an appointment?

I wish that was the case. Just spoke with them and they don't do it. She said i will have to find someone who will come and do this. Ohh well....
They do it every year at my house, the water district should just come and do it for free. I got a letter a few years back saying I had to have a backflow valve installed ASAP (cost me like 300 i think) that was fun.
when I had to do this in the past, it was about $55 but that was nearly a decade ago. I'm sure it's still in that range though. It was never free and if it was, it wasn't backflow testing. They open the drain in front of your house and they're done in 10 minutes. They also should file the paperwork to the town for you.
I'm not surprise. Plainview water also charged $50 for new accounts. Hey at least you get a free water saving kit.
Are you talking about the envelope they sent in the mail with a booklet in it.
