The only reason to take the Manhattan job is if you think it'll turn into something bigger or if it's at a more reputable company which will be better on your resume. If the companies are about the same in terms of reputation & advancement opportunities, then definitely stay in Suffolk.
Hey, I'm entry level myself. And I will say that if I wasn't with my now fiance, it would be hard to make it work in terms of rent, food, etc.
I think that if you are young, hungry and looking to work hard, go for the city job. Give it a try and see if you can do it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained
Working and living in Suffolk is s joke. It's like working with a bunch of farmers and hicks. I work in Suffolk and have worked in NYC. I moved to Suffolk 10 years ago and the best thing I ever did was move back to Nassau. All I have to do is get a job in NYC and enjoy relaxing on the LIRR for 51 minutes and not have to fight the *******s going 75 mph on the LIE. That said, $20 hour is not much to work in the city. I wouldn't consider it for less than 85K a year. But if you are just starting out, do it. Way more opportunity out there. In Suffolk, you will go nowhere because there really is no where to go.
Which would end up being cheaper in the long run for somebody who would have to commutes via LIRR to Manhattan from southwestern Suffolk.
Assuming Full-Time.
BTW: lol, please don't make fun of this income range; i'm "entry level".
How far would your commute be to the possible Suffolk County job?
